Sidenote : actually we have one architect with us now (OAA registered) but he is no good. This office is looking for a replacement so that we can terminate him and put the other person in that job.
Sidenote 2 : We still have that vacancy that i put up before. I still have not had one response for that.



TK, What is preventing you from applying for this position. Do not mean to pry but is there a special registration or education requirement ?

My2Cents:
As required by this position, i donot have Candian experience in commercial buildings nor the inclination to learn that field. One of the reason is b'cos of additional tension if i go to that field with responsibilites, mistakes, additional work etc...
I already have a 5 yr. degree and 10 years of experience. At this age , i canot and donot want to study/ upgrade myself, when the result will be more tension (atleast myself). Our office offered to give us a chance to upgrade ourselves for the job with studying for Canadian Architect registration (just fake experience letters and nothing else) but at our cost and hard work after office hours, but we refused. 3 of us were offered that, 2 told straight on the face (incl. me) that we will not do that, 1 agreed but backed out now. This upgradation takes a lot of money and is not worth the return that it can give.
As desi's we always look for returns with the minimum possible effort and i am one of those guys. I prefer on the job training (the yway we learnt in India but this is not possible in my office and / or Canada)
if you see my side note, we have to kick out an architect inorder to recruit the person that i have advertised for . So it takes lot of skills, study, creativity, hardwork to get a 55K job (that is what the other architect is getting). He is in Canada for 10 years and spend 10's of thousand on his registration. I donot not have the creativity and i am esp. not at all willing to take that job in my office.

I am new in Canada and my last job was as a Journalist, but I also have 13 years experience as an Admin Assistant but to date no luck on the job front. If anyone knows of internal postings...please contact through this board...I am going nuts without a job and need one real soon!

PURPOSE

1 to 10 Month Contract Position.

Provides administrative support to the sales department. Serves as a liaison
between sales personnel and customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES in order of importance. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Assists new prospects that call in and want to become a new customer by
setting up customer in database and scheduling them for a sales call with a
representative. Tracks the prospecting activity throughout the month and
provides that information to sales management.

2. Assists sales management with reports, promotions, literature and sample
distribution. Creates forms, tracks promotions, sorts and distributes company
and vendor information.

3. Types all quotes, letters, memos, bid packages, sales forms, requisitions,
slide presentations. Prepares sales charts, graphs, and spreadsheets for
quarterly reviews.

4. Consolidates account executive sales numbers (i.e., forecasts, sales
statistics for sales meetings, performance reviews, etc.) Creates spreadsheet
programs for forecasting of sales and gross margin. Monitors Gross Margin
Exception Report and alerts sales staff of gross margins below company
standards.

5. Prints and distributes customer contracts, usage reports, backorder reports,
gross margin reports, and performance reports to the sales representatives.

6. Maintains customer and vendor mailing lists; completes special mail outs to
current and prospective customers. Distribute vendor literature and samples as
needed. Produces customer mailing labels and flyers.

7. Maintains and orders marketing material inventory (i.e., catalogs, printed
material, sample packs, etc.).

8. Assists in coordination of sales meetings, customer days, golf tournaments,
etc.

PRIMARY INTERACTIONS

Daily interaction with sales, customer service, and purchasing personnel,
vendors, and customers.
