384 kms x 2 = 768 kms each day

5. 5 hrs one way non-stop - Assuming that the person does not stop for a break
And the weather is always great everyday and no traffic hassles.

8 hrs on job, 11 hrs on driving. Poor guy sleeps for only 5 hrs???:( Assuming that he wastes no time getting up and ready for job and has no family

Meghal,
This is a true story.
It is that of a software engineer lady. She has a house in Brampton. She worked at Burlington and was transferred to this job for 9 months as implementation head. She did it each and every day. I assume that she covered it in 4 hrs.. May be the implementation site was a bit before sudbury.
Others are welcome to refute or adhere to this message.

Can you get this lady to post her story on CD? I got questions for her!

Even if she covered it in 4 hours, 8 hours of commuting everyday for 9 months, and she's a project implementation head at that???? Was she a complete doofus? Does she know that there are things called hotels where people can stay and then commute on the weekend?

What about her manager? Was he/she a complete idiot as well to let her do this?? Or are you going to say she managed to keep it a secret?

What a bunch of crap! Someone's kidding someone for sure here. While we're at it, let's say that she came home everyday, made dinner for her family, did all the dishes, read her kids a story a night and then read for about an hour herself before going to sleep.

BL,
This actually happened. She was the manager. She had people below her. She was single (divorced) w/o children. She spends her weekends with her sister's children. she was a punjabi and no longer works in the company that sent her to sudbury. i donot know why she avoided the hotel.
Even when a person told me about this lady, i asked this person "is she going to rent an apt. there" The person who told me this said " No, she has a own house in Brampton, she will drive everyday to work and return in the night" and she did this for 9 months and then quit to a better company and salary.
If you feel that it still is crap, please delete the message or we shall put an end to that matter with this post.

There's no need to delete the message. Its still bs though. I'm not saying you're the one making it up, but she certainly is.

Having a 2/3 hour commute in public transit is one thing, driving for 4 hours ONE-WAY is another! And then working for 8 hours and driving back another 4 hours! And doing that for 9 months! While being a manager and hence probably not that desperate! And you believe this! C'mon man, you're smarter than that. Don't call it a true story, just say this is what she told you...

OK, BL.
Thanks for keeping the thread/ post.
Actually the person who told me about this is out of the country. I will wait till this person comes back and i will ask this person to back up the story/ talk to her collegues and find out if she actually did this . Might take 4 or 5 months for that.
TK
Sidenote : I have heard that in USA husband and wife couples (both in IT) working in different cities do this . Is it true? Can someone tell me a true example?
sidenote 2 : Thanks meghal, for pointing out the discrepancy. I thought that many CD's would come up backing my story with other examples of how people took driving to work to the extreme but no one did.

I drive kms one way to work, if that can come under your criteria.

I drive a Echo, which is a boon considering the high fuel price. Now that winter is over, my heating is set to low or stopped, whcih saves me more fuel. I also get my car serviced at regular intervals at Toyota dealer. Only drawback is that I do not have a cruise control, so I do get cramped muscles at night, especially when traffic is stop and go.

I am a cautious driver, and normally drive in middle lane at the speed of moving traffic. I overtake using leftmost lane only if the car in front of me is moving at a very low speed. In short, I do not brake or accelerate often.

My only bad habit is changing CDs sometimes. I normally put CD in my player before I start driving, but sometimes I take the risk of changing the CD while driving.

I have preset the stations on my radio, so that I do not have to fumble with the tuner while driving.

I never, never use cellphone while driving. Although I use pay as you go phone, I switch it off once I am in car.

And yes, never have too much fluid before driving long distance. Because if you are stuck in traffic, you know how'd you feel, :p unless you are a kid riding as a passenger and your dad is there to stop car for you in between traffic :D

What else???
