i got a speeding ticket for doing 130 in 100 zone (30 over).
the ticket is $180 and i don't know if they gave any points (it's not written on the ticket).
i'm planning to plead guilty with explanation (2nd option).
i hope to reduce the fine and remove the points if there are any.
is this the right approach or should I contest the ticket outright and go for hearing?
if I plead guilty with explanation, what is the best approach?
the truth is that i was going at the same speed as everybody else.
some people were going even faster and passing me.
there was low traffic and good weather so it was a matter of chance that I got picked out of the lot.
is it valid approach to say that I have a clean driving record, no tickets and that I was going at the average speed of traffic as everyone so please reduce my fine and take away the points?
anyone who has successfully pleaded guilty with explanation and got the points removed please share your experience

Quote:thanks Hiren. so to get in front of the judge, should i select option 3 on the ticket instead of option 2?

Even if you say nothing, for a first offence the judge will lower the offense to something without Demerit points. Please note however, that it will go on your driving record as an 'infraction' - which may effect your insurance in future.
Good luck.

I don't mind paying a reduced fine and a small insurance hit but i want to avoid the big fine and the huge insurance hit that this will cause.
Hi, Do not pay fine , i think option is third one where you fight this ticket in the court and for this you have to go to the court to get the date , make sure you select officer to be present
If you pay even $1 your insurance gets affected.
There is a misconception with points. People think that if we do not have points I am okay. That is not true. Once you pay you are convicted. The Insurance company can then see it in your record.
Usually your insurance goes once you have 2 tickets within 3 years on your record. This varies from company to company.
yes i know even without points my insurance would go up.
if i select option 3 (dispute the ticket), how do i get the plea bargain?
will the prosecutor ask me before the trial if i want to bargain?
i don't actually want to go into a hearing and trial because if the officer does show up, i can't really refute the evidence.
