Hi there,

I was in an arranged marriage last september and I husband moved to Canada in March 2006. Since, he landed here, I have been harassed verbally, emotionally and physically. I have tried to make the relationship work by taking him to Mexico for a honeymoon (he hit me there) and doing as much as I could. We had problems right when we got married itself and I did not want to sponsor him to Canada, I was pressured by my family to bring him because they said it would work out once he came here.
The last straw was when he hit me in front of my parents. My parents approached with regards to the situation and he called his family in Edmonton and left. He said that the only reason he got married to me was because he wanted to come to Canada.

I spoke to a few people and they said that because he got his PR card, I cannot do anything to deport him from here. I want to withdraw my sponsorship because this marriage was a sham.
Please let me know if this is possible. I looked at the CIC Canada website and it says that regardless of the situation, the contract cannot be broken and I'm still finanically responsible for him.

Please do let me know

Thanks

If he hit you, the first thing you should've done is call the police. Why didn't you do that? Didn't your parents advise you to do it when he hit you in front of them??

Well, I was going to call the police but my parents said that he was my husband and we should talk to him. I have two other sisters and my parents were thinking about how "the community" would look at us once I called the police. They were also concerned about how both of us would feel if he ever changed and we were living together. Again lots of pressure not to call and a mistake I regret.

see dear, abuse of any type is a serious matter. especially by such people who get marry just for coming to canada. yes, definately u can deport him to canada, but for that also u need to go to police and tell them whole thing, from head to tail. and this eidiot will be moved back to his home land in few weeks.

earlier I had heard of such cases and the deportation was carried out with serious allegations against such people who take help of relationships to come to canada, and I promise if he is moved back once, u will never see his face again in canada.

just go to police or call them and tell them whole story, and don't forgot to tell this thing that he married u to get Canadian PR.

best of luck and hope everything works well...........

Deporting? I called a lawyer and they said that I cannot get him deported because he is already a landed immigrant. Canada will only deport him if he had another wife in India so something serious. Unfortunately, when I sponsored him, I had proved this marriage was legal and gave them all the supporting documents. I only came to know of his intentions after he came here and he admitted to it.

well ma freind had a similar case..
but she was gud!
she met this fine lawyer(pm me for name)..who took care of everything..u need one or two witness..DONT KNW THe exact details..but she was able to prove that tht guy had affair with someone...so he got deported!
unless u r a CITIZEN..any crime u commit(major one) can lead to ur deportation..
waiting for Mr.Massoods response!

well i knw u supported him with all the documents..but as all say..u can say that he completely changed after coming here!

My heart goes out for you.

I think the relationship is over the moment a man hits his woman. Its only gonna get worse with time. Don't worry about getting him deported back to India, instead safeguard yourself ...both financially and physically.

Call the authorities right away and let them know the whole story with every little detail. Build a strong case and then file for a divorce.

In the mean time you can secure yourself financially by having a seperate back account instead of a joint one and physically by getting a restraining order agaist him.

Trust me, the restraining order is very necessary, both for you physical security and to build a divorce case against him.

Don't worry about the society, no one is gonna come to your rescue if tomorrow your husband decides to beat you black and blue in a closed room.
