Hi all,
I wanted to use NetExpress of Money2India however the problem I am facing is to transfer the money from my savings account to ICICI' s local account.

The option is to use TELPAY.ca 's services to transfer the money. When I send out a fax to TELPAY to open a new account, next day I received a call back asking me who you want to pay and I mentioned Money2India.

Telpay guy says that I will have to pay CAD 1.95 / month to have this service. I have read on Telpay.ca 's website that it costs .50Cents to make a transfer and there is no monthly charges.

So I would like to know from our CD community, if anyone has used Telpay.ca 's service to pay for Money2India and how much they pay. It feels like that sales guy from Telpay wanted to conn me and I declined the offer.

Thanks guys...

Arnab M

Though I have never used Telpay and do not know the need for it but if look at the http://www.telpayforyou.ca/pricing.php , it is self-explanatory. 50 cents for each transaction (waived if you download their software) or $1.95 for monthly package which gives you 5 transactions

Why somebody would want to con you of $1.45 is beyond me.

Hi Raj,
Thanks for your reply. It is not a question of $1.45 more per month however it will cost almost $24 / year, if you look at it the otherway. I will be using the service 3 - 4 times a year.
Telpay could be a great service for free or even 0.50Cents, as it offers the convenience to remit money from your PC. Otherwise sending a cheque to P.O Box is another option but it takes longer and the hassle of going to a post office to mail it out. (Stamps + Stationary + Time is worth 0.50 Cents)
Today I called Telpay again and asked them to set up a piece meal account where I would pay 0.50 cents per transaction however the sales guy tried to scare me that the money may not reach ICICI bank account.
I will keep you guys posted as Money2India 's NetExpress service seems quite promising.
Thanks and warm regards

If you are using the service only 3-4 times a year, the cheque deposit facility works great. You are only spending 51 cents for the stamp. Why do you need to go to the post office to drop it off? There are postal drop boxes in every major office complex and if you are employed, your office would have a mail room.

I mailed my check on Tuesday and the amount was deposited in my Indian account Today (thursday), less than 72 hours

Thanks for your reply. Actually I tried using cheque transfer, once directly to India and the other time to ICICI Bank's PO Box. Overseas cheque clearing takes over 21 days to process the money. Local cheque mailing took some10 days for my money to get deposited in Indian Bank (ICICI).
I am now set with Telpay.ca which costs nothing to transfer the money from your desk to ICICI's Royal Bank Account and the total process takes about 3 days excluding holidays.
The exchange rate of ICICI is not very good, but for smaller amount its ok.

Take care,
Arnab M
