Crenshaw
Yes, if it was a painted bumper, then this would be feasible.
But this one is a black plastic bumper (unpainted). From my knowledge, I think it would be impossible to remove the scratches unless it is replaced. He would use this clause unless CD members could tell me otherwise.
From my view $200 is reasonable. I could even afford to give $300. But $ 500 is a bit too much.
Anyway, Thanks a lot for your reply.

To ask this guy to get lost just ask youself:
1. Whether the police officer noted any of your or car details. they write in a diary and you will not know
2. did you give this guy your insurance details etc.

Desi #1,
The police did not note down the number in his note book.
But i did share my insurance details with this guy! He seems to be a smart guy and speaks with a good accent. I donot think that i can get away by asking him to get lost.
Since i did not get any good suggestions as of now, I think that i will have to pay him. One thing that i can do is to request him to reduce atleast $200 from his stated sum of $500.

Correct me if I am wrong - if a guy has an accent, it is not a good thing as per Canadian norms:D

TK,

The best option for you is to negotiate a bit. We all desi's are good in negotiating:D
If its a small scratch, probably he's not going to repair or mend the bumper but sure.... so any amount he's getting is his gain:cheers: and your loss:cry:
So try to negotiate and come down to $300 or even to $100;)

Yesterday night, I settled the claim in cash for $500. He would not let me pay him lower. I got a sign from him that he recd. the cash and that he will not drag the matter further.
