• Partition your Drive into two. Use C:\ of 15G to 20G - only for Operating System & Applciations.

There is already a partition…one for operating system and other for applications

Have you tried defragmenting your hard drive.,

Yes, I do it regularly whenever it permits me to do.

That may help too. I'm guessing you have anti-virus and anti-sypware installed…….

Yes, I have Norton Corporate Edition installed on computer

it makes sense to partition the hD into 3 like you seem to be doing.
1) OS
2) Apps
3)Storage.

This way even if you have to reinstall OS you do not have to reinstall ALL the apps. For some apps there is probably no choice.

Tip for anyone interested: If you have a second hd...I would suggest leaving an empty partition there so you can swap disks and install the OS on the empty partition as an alternative to formatting the whole disk(in extreme cases). This way you can try to recover some of the data before formatting disk.

A defrag does not actually defrag the page files(windows nt/xp limitation). Depending on the apps you run and the pagefile size...this may degrade performance substantially. So if you are using memory intensive apps you should use this free sw from

works like a charm!

Now that we are at it, can anyone suggest good anti-spyware? Commercial or free.
Thanks in advance
