Read this morning that the fed. govt is looking into income splitting for the couples. That means they can transfer to the less income earning spouse so that the tax would be reduced. This may not go well with the singles.

Yes it wont go well with singles.
But it will be huge benefit if only one member is earning in family. But it will also encourage woman to "not work" if husband's earning is high.
