Is this like J&K in India? Like a special status the state has.
I got francophone colleagues and even they dont understand.

Nothing more than it is now....constitutionally or legally.
Politically it means one thing to the fedralists and another to the sovereignists(who are caught off guard but trying to make the best of it).
The Bloc was waiting to show quebecors how they have been 'Humiliated' once more by the feds. Until Harper showed his hidden card(which was in part due to the liberal infighting on the issue).
Now 'humiliation' will be transferred(by the bloc Q) to how Quebec IS NOT being 'TREATED' as a nation, inspite of everyone saying it is a nation.
The libs are glad to fall in line since the heat is taken off them.
The ndp could not be the odd one out.
The Bloc cannot say no since Harper ,..basically passed the motion(but added 'within Canada' to it) they intended to .
Harper has just decided to fight a battle a little later than sooner(if bloc quebec had passed the motion that day...he would have been fighting it already).
Everyone wins a little for now.

I think that is not good idea for long term future. We are all united Canada and that suppose to be. Today Frenchs need "nation within Canada", tomorrow other communities want same thing.

I agree but the separatist genie was out of the bottle a long time ago. What we are seeing now is just one in the series of political grandstanding and semantic acrobatics to influence the Quebecors one way or the other.
Call me an optimist but Quebec will always stay 'within Canada'.
