Candian citizenship/US H1/TN

Dear friends

I will be canadian citizen in about 2 to 2.5 months. I have job offers in the US which will be finalized in a month or so. I am in a great confusion about two things.

1. Should I start my H1 process on Indian passport ot should I wait for my Canadian citizenship. If I start my H1 process on indian passport, then change to canadian citizenship, would it be a big problem.

2. Should I go for TN visa? My wife is a an indian citizen, so it is easy to get TD visa for her and can we travel from US to India freely without any problems?

As far as I know, once you take up Canadian citizenship, your Indian passport is invalid and effectively cannot be used for travel purposes..(legally at least).
While you might be able to continue staying in the US with an H-1B on your Indian passport, how are you going to travel back and forth from Canada(if you ever intend to?) and what about travel to India?
I believe it is not worth the risk.
Why not just get an H-1 after you get your canadian citizenship?

Hi,

Even if you get an offer now, the employer can't file your H1B until April 1st,2007 which would allow you to work from Oct.1,2007. By that time, you would have got your Canadian citizenship.

I would say, get the canadian passport. Then get H1B and go to states. TN visa is just a luck. you may get or may not. H1B also allows you to file the US green card if you intend to file one.

Dear Friends,

I've question about this matter....

How can he get H1B stamp on indian passport while he has canadian passport?

Legally he should cancelled his indian passport but if he is not cancelling his passport is it possible to get H1B stamp on indian passport? (His citizenship status is canadian not indian)

TN visa holder (OR employer) can apply for USA Green Card or not?
