hello Cd's,
I am a single person (early 40's) with only a brother to call as my own (estranged).
I know that I can get married and have kids / adopt kids but then I wish to know my options of leading a single life till death.
I have good savings of upto 20 Lakhs. Inheritance will be around 10 L which will come in a year . However in the next 2 years, I expect my savings to rise to 60 Lakhs (total) - I shall explain this later . By mid 40's, I will have two options :
1. work in a private engineering college till i am able at a savings of Rs 50,000 a month
2. Work in a professional office at a saving of Rs 80,000 a month and then go back to working in a private engineering college after age 50.
what should be my options :
1. Invest in real estate, FD and stocks and then use them at the time of need?
2. Same as point 1, but then after age 58, settle in Australia and try to use their social schemes to my advantage?
3. Best option is to get married to a working lady and having kids so that at least 2 hands is better than one.
4. Should settle in Trivandrum - the retiree's paradise which boasts of low population, world class beaches, very affordable health care, very low cost of living etc..? also has some private engineering colleges where I can teach but saving potential will only be around Rs 20,000 a month due to low salaries in Trivandrum.
45 Any other?
Looking forward to your answers.
Murali Krishna.

If I'll be single today with some savings in hand and having Canadian passport, I 'll back pack and do a world tour (or will aim for that) , live in various countries, if available an opportunity then work and stay in a country else move on. I know this is not typical Indian stuff but yeh jindagi naa milegi dubara (you live only once!) .
Anyways this post is about TK and his savings. I suggest you invest your money in real estate in India (if they let you do so) and wait for it to grow till then work in professional office (more savings!) and then retire as VP of a company with good pension amount (more saving ! ) ...
I am with San-Hugo on the backpacking thing - word to word. I would start with India though.
TK,
While you're at it, you can try Live-In relationship- best of both worlds.
Stay single, dude. As Hugo mentioned above, this coupled with a Canadian passport the options are limitless to live your life to the fullest.
Hey TK
I thought you are married & also have kids ...guess i got you confused with someone else..
Anyways i will echo san hugo and febpreet - go on a tour as much as you can. May be try option of teaching English around the world..there are lots of volunteer programs as well where you can volunteer and they will provide food and housing for free...that way you dont need to worry about food/housing expense plus you get to roam around the world. Health insurance is also covered for those kinda volunteer programs. Many are paid too
Your father passed away less than 2 weeks ago, TK.
These are my personal views, not in capacity of a moderator.
This guy seems a habitual liar and only seeks attention as well as stirring up controversies. He is borderline troll.
Anyone who has followed him in the past knows about his posts about secretly using the money from his wife's account, his wife earning more than him, having an infant in his care, accepting dowry from his in laws...etc.. etc.. to recent posting about suspected murder (intension) and father's death... His favorite being food banks and free stuff which invariably gets on nerves of some self respecting CDs and he enjoys the annoyance.
Guys please don't feed him - he needs medical attention.
My post may seem harsh or unfair to some new posters but most long time posters will vouch for these facts.
