According to me, the world view that I have described is the one that is being practised. Thus, it is UNFORTUNATELY the practical world of today.

Hey guys... not ranting really...nothing personal either.
Jake gets out some very tuff questions that always sends me thinking hard for answers.... !
Kinda difficult to get that done in the middle of that day at work eh. :-)
May be later. :-)

I think that with the varying viewpoints...especially between the two of us, people have enough info to draw their own conclussions now.
It was fun.

America is the devil we know. Wishing its downfall will only hurt us(and our economic interests) if we do not know what comes in its place. THAT is the gist of my argument.
Heres the gist of my point. I never wished the downfall of any nation or govt.
Lets take an example of what you referenced earlier about how we prop up the \"House of Saud\" to keep oil flowing and cheap.
All I am asking here is, instead of the above option why not stay away from the politics of Saudi people. Let organic democracy evolve in Saudi. Let the citizens of Saudi have a say in their land and resources. Let them elect a govt. Let then form their own oil ministry democratically.
We step aside can always be available to step in on request from the democratic govt of Saud (meaning the people of Saudi) to help protect the oil pipe lines from any sort of Damage that may collapse the world economy.
Two points that should come out of this will be:
1. Do not pressure them for cheap oil. Make a fair deal with the elected govt.
2. Do not force them to use the US $ as defacto currency for oil trade. Cause that should be none of our business.
So tell me what is wrong with my thinking? What disaster can it cause?

I am honestly shocked!!! I am tempted to classify you amongst those who know only about Canada and America. Would I be wrong in assuming that you have been educated in northamerica and have lived most of your life here?
What makes you sure the Saudis will choose a democracy? What kind of govt will exist there if a democratic election is called tomorrow? Will such a govt be against western interests? Will the elected govt(if radical islamists are elected) seek to encourage other radical islamists in neighbouring countries? If so what are the repurcussions for the rest of the world? Why do you think Osama wants to bring down the house of Saud?
What is the record of democracies in the middle east? Which only country in the middle east, is the 'closest' to a western style democracy?Israel is the answer. So much for that, eh?
Do the people of the middle east even desire democracy?
Have you for even a minute considered the repurcussions of islamist radicals having control over the Mecca the holiest of islamic sites?
Arent you indulging in 'wishful' thinking when you assume that a secular style democracy will replace the monarchy?
p.s: read the link I sent about the 'house of saud'...you would not ask me this question if you did.
