HI Desis,
i have received a letter from CRA asking me the source of income i showed as other income when i was unemployed and got that money form my family in india but still i showed it.
Please tell me how i should get rid of CRAand what implications will that cause in case i have reported the income in the wrong column while filing my taxes.
thanks in advance for all the answers
Who has advised you to declare the money received from the family into the income row?
that was the mistake i did,,,and thats why i am writing ,,,if you have any suggestion, please advise,,,
As long as you have the proof of the money received from India (through wire transfer, draft etc..), you should be able to get off this. If you don't have any proof and you received the money in cash, just set up a meeting with the officer and advise him of the circumstances. I hope that this money you received from India was not your Income in India from Indian investments/rents etc. In that event you filed you return according to the law.

Hi all,
I have a simlilar problem. My ex-company sent the pending payment to my account in Canada. It was my salary arrears.
I would like to know whether that amount is taxable? do i have to show it in the tax return?
Thanks in advance for your help.
