hello there.
this is my first post in canadian desi. I have arrived here just few months ago, but I am felling at home here. I need little help with my CCTB. i have already applied for it and started receiving money. when I first filled up my form I filled it incorrectly. that is all the income was stated in dirham where as it should be in dollars. it was a genuine mistake from my part and I am solely to be blamed for that.when I received my first check I noticed the mistake and sent them a letter correcting it . I have received another letter from them stating that why I need to adjust the income and if I can provide them with any income tax return slip or any other document. As I was in Dubai there is no income tax slip or any thing like that and all my pay slip from my previous job is either left in India or misplaced please suggest me what should I do. as I didn't convert my salary from dirham to dollar in my CCTB form I am not receiving money as much I should.
I will really appreciate if anyone can suggest me what i should do
thanks

Hi romario,

I have seen this happening many times. Since I deal in RESP (Be rest assured that I am not trying to sell/market myself) and help my clients fill out these forms also many times since they are new and unaware about the process part.

Once you have done this and do not have any Tax slips, it becomes more so difficult. In one of my clients' case, we had sent in all the pay stubs/employment letter etc. HRDC does not have any mechanism to back check during your first application and hence they would accept and process the numbers you write at the first time. After doing that, if you want to correct, you need to definitely prove with documents to endorse their TRUST on you, which is already established with your first numbers.

Send them a polite letter (remember in Canada your communication is your biggest weapon/tool to succeed) explaining the situation and enclose all the proofs of your income. Once you do that, there is not reason whatsoever as why they will not adjust your CCTB.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

VJ.

hello VJ
thanks for the reply, I am going do exactly what you said. I am going to write them a very polite letter and try to find my payslips or ask my previous owner to send me a letter and send it to them. I hope everything will be ok.
thanks again

hi VJ I had one more thing to ask you. As it will be very very difficult to collect all my pay slips do you think it will be al-right if I will ask my previous employer for a letter stating my yearly salary in dirhams and dollars.
please reply me as I need your advise.
thanks

Yeah it will. But they might contact your employer to verify if the letter is genuine (unless it is sealed by the company)
Peace

A written request with proper proof of income (prefer a letter from previous employer, payslips and bank statements) should help.
BTW , hope you are aware the amount you are getting right now is not fixed for good and it should change next year as your income from this year will be reviewed that time.
