Hi,
I am moving from the US to Calgary Canada soon and want to know which bank offers the best conversion if I deposit 9900 USD.I will be depositing this by Cashiers cheque and cash(5000 Cashiers cheque and 4900 cash).
I looked at the rates offered by TD canada and they are not that great.
Please suggest.
Regards

Try PC Financial. Their rates were pretty good last time I checked. You can open an account at any Zehrs/Real Canadian/Valumart stores (in Ontario).
The big 5 banks will charge you an arm and a leg for every transaction. Better to stay away from them.
If you don't need all the money immediately, you can carry some money with you to Canada, and transfer the rest as follows
1) open an account with PC Financial (or any bank);
2) open an account with XE Trade (www.xe.com)
3) Register your account in Canada and your account in the US with XE
4) Transfer money seamlessly using their system without any fees and one of the best exchange rates. They even allow you to time the transfer to get the best possible rates.
Thank you ash_canada.I will check about PC Financial.I am moving to Calgary so not sure if they have any branch in calgary.

Advice is free – lessons I charge for!!
Number of years have to nothing to do with any immediate situation. And besides its a very large amount.
In my opinion no question is a stupid quesion. I would rather ask then to make mistakes.
