Hello,
We landed in Aug 2004 and submitted our \"goods to follow list\".
We now plan to arrive this summer and realise that the cost of shipping furniture to Canada is quite low, compared to the cost of buying furniture similar to ours in Canada
Just wondering if it is possible to add on the furniture. If not, can anyone give a ball park figure of the duty chargeable (cost of the sofas 2 years ago was about CAD 5K or so).
Rgds,

Hi,
We just landed on 7th May and are not planning to move soon. I asked the same question to the officer that in 2-3 yrs we might have changes in our list. One buys/sells furniture etc. He said there's no problem in buying any furniture but we'll need to notify them for every change we had in the list. Since you bought sofa 2 yrs and did not notify them of the purchase (I'm not sure if you'll be paying duty on it or no). Adding to the goods of follow list is normally not allowed.
Hope this helps in anyway.
Jona
