hi
I am a newbie to this forum and would really appreciate a response to this predicament we find ourselves in.
I have read other threads regarding work permit changes however havent found a right answer.
I am presently working for a large IT company here in toronto on a transfer (hence no HRDSC approval required) and have more than 5 years of IT exp. Another company has offered me a job here and they are trying to change my work permit from within canada. I sent my application to the vegreville office, which due to some issue was sent to the Vancouver office. I was asked by the prospective employer to visit the St. Clair office directly to apply for my change in WP.
The case worker I met in the St. Clair office told me that i would need to apply here only if there is an emergency. My prospective employer has also agreed to give a letter stating that I am required to join the company immediatly as there is a need for my skills. I am in a fix now bcoz i would be required to resign from my present job before i go to the office again as i have to serve a 4 wk notice period. I am not allowed to work for this company once i get the WP change approved. if i resign and ...i dont get the change in WP???
My question to all CDs is - has anyone got a WP change done in a similar fashion? What are my chances of getting the WP approved?
i am going through the IT federal skills programme which doesnt need HRDC approval again. I have technial skills and mgt skills in IT. the WP will be for a mainly technical role with some mgt responsiblities.
I have a lease and other financial commitments and cannot afford to take the wrong decision. Any insight into the workings of immigration will help.
really really appreciate a response on this matter.
There's always a risk but based on my experience, if your employment offer is genuine and your employer is fully supportive, you won't have a problem.
Good luck
