It's not only the Nokia N95. There are several phones with GPS built in.
Dell was selling the an Asus phone with GPS. The Blackberry Pearl has GPS built in, and is available with Rogers, Telus or Bell.
Big difference is how these phones enable GPS: Assisted GPS (or A-GPS), which requires a data download to sync position. The other method is a built in chipset (such as SirfStar III) which does not need data download. The model of the chipset is also a big factor in the time a unit takes to lock onto the satellites, and how many satellites it can find.
In general, phone GPS systems are more for walking around due to the small screen and the time they take to acquire a signal. Some phones also will not update the position automatically.
Google Maps for mobiles now has a feature that triangulates your position by connecting to nearby cellphone towers - so you don't need a GPS built into the phone with this software. However, the positioning can be quite inaccurate; upto 1km off.
If you want one for driving, get a dedicated unit.
I am not talking about N 95 or Black berry 8310 on these phones you have to pay to your service provider because you are using the Internet.
I did not see the phone he told me it is a full PDA phone.
I have been using Garmin for almost 2 years and quite happy with it. The price has come down to around $ 250 from $ 500. But go for "text to speech" model, it's more convenient.
It is easy to use and you can use it right out of the box. You can use it in different cars also. Just stick the disk and use the suction cup. No installation required. Stand alone GPS units are better.
