We will be travelling to Dubai, later this month.
We are looking for comfortable accommodation (hotel) reasonably priced for a week in Dubai.
It will be much appreciated if CD members can guide us to decent hotel.
Hoping for responses..

I had left dubai 8 yrs back but i know hotels located around Deira souk / naif road are not decent /safe for families. Pls avoid those places. You can search around Bur Dubai or Jumeirah area on expedia.com

You can book online, compare prices of hotels.

You take accommodation in Karama area or Bur dubai because this is the main buisness/market area of dubai also museum etc near by.

Now a days lot of construction work due to metro project so Taxis are difficult to get for short distance and also no doubt a bit expensive.

Do not think of driving-traffic is horrible :D---

Take govt. tourist packages for a safe and better sight seeing-----there are many pkgs and u can get info at airport and also at hotel.

You are coming to an islamic country So please read and understand rules and regulation about different issues and respect them. You will get details from your travel agent.
People of UAE are very very soft, cheerful ,helping and you will have a pleasant stay No doubts.
All the Best

Try avoid anything in Deira as not good for family

Check few hotels or sharing in Burbubai or in Old pakistani Consulate area.

if this is your first visit, all the best

you will be surprised about traffic & cost of living

Thank you very much, guys....for all the information.

mumdxbcan, I am already getting surprised, the cost of living sure looks high.
The room rates are high at this time, I have made enquiries and nothing less than CAD$ 100 per night in third rated hotels.

They are telling me it is the annual Dubai shopping festival and all the hotels have increased their regular rates.
I am just wondering if this trip is going to be worth it. Cruise vacation packages here are much cheaper.
Some dubai forums have nasty stories about dubai hotels eg. noise from construction, AC's not working, bed bugs, poor service etc..I wonder..

goldie, the cheapest apartment is more than 850 dhirams with no breakfast.
Breakfast is extra at 55 dhirams per person.

puttoo, thanks for the link, very helpful and very clear.

flyinghigh and new york: Appreciate your vital inputs...
How far is the airport from Bur dubai and Karama?
The flight is arriving at midnight, so should we take a cab to hotel...are taxis difficult to get??
