Hi tourist, this is a good time to go to Dubai during the shopping festival. I had won lots of stuff during the festivals few years back, such as a Mitsubishi Lancer, a television, a big teddy bear and a tape recorder during the same month. So many promotions, foods and excitement for the families, especially the global village . From airport to karama/burdubai its around 25 mins by cab.

Hi

I am out of Dubai now, but I remember "SAVOY" furnished apartment in Bur Dubai was the reasonable one.

Dubai of late become very expensive so things may not be the same.

Dubai airport is in the main city only.just in the centre of the town-------you may find it surprising but i t is truth.

If you are staying in karama or bur dubai--do not worry abt food---very good reasonable indian/asian restaurants are in tht area---in karama it self they say appx 800 restaurants are available----all at walking distance--55dhs???thts really more for a breakfast-----if u like to eat english stuff then even spinneys suprmarket sells excellent breakfast at reasonable rates-[bur dubai]--if your hotel is in bur dabai and karama even 100cad$ would be a ok deal -eat outside as golden and silver apartments are also expensive ones and buying and cooking is at times expensive than eating out-------MCdonald and Pizza hut are open till 3 am...
-if you are reachin at midnight -do not worry -----taxis are not a big problem at airport and big shopping malls -they are also available at your door step if u call them at a given number---------Dubai never sleeps---so do not worry abt night or day-u will find life at night around---it is also called as new york of middle east :)---------------
--Global village is like trade fair in india--pavillions of different countries etc--it is very far-----taxis migt cost you around 80-100 dhs from the city--
--do not take any lift from anyone even at great need--in eergency feel free to call 999 if you are in any emergency need----helicopter services are also available by dubai police if u need it--they are very helpfull---DONOT drink and drive----------------
any other Q -please ask--
I do not see much worth truely speaking of your dubai visit at this time--if u can keep it postpon for a year or so-then metro will start and u have lot more to explore in dubai--------also if u r visiting dubai-also visit al ain thts the garden city of UAE --Better if you take a tour package which will cover entire UAE in a day only---
anyway-------lot of construction work and tht noise will dsturb you -no doubts--------
anyway -welcome to UAE-

good breakfast indian food is at 5-10 dhs --you have a great variety to chose--go to any bikanerwalas-uduupi or any indian name u see if u r not sure-or just ask any passerby -:)

lunch also thali or buffet at 10 dhs very good clean food at all indian /south indian restaurants--most of the restaurants are selling 10dhs -for buffet-even arabic food u wanna try-will get very very good enough quantity at 10-15 dhs-

Bus service is available-try them only if u are aware of route numbers-----so many malls are here-
Museum-krshna and shiv temple/gurdwara is in bur dubai near meena bazar u can just walk and go-weather is cool[10degree at times] u bring light winter clothes also-rather if u wanna buy -buy from here--things are cheaper at meena bazar-----------------

Thanks for the vital info..
Can you suggest a hotel in BurDubai?
We are interested in shopping, camel rides, spending some time on beach, or water park, visit 5 star hotel for afternoon tea. We like walking in the evenings
At night would like to visit a disco and see some belly dancing or the indian mujra with bollywood songs.
Your suggestions would be welcome.
So meena bazaar will be good for shopping? I have to buy some gold jewellry and 220 volt electronics. (wireless phones, fax machines, digital camera, computer etc.). flyinghigh can i email you?
Any reasonable jewellry store or a good mall.
Once again thanks..:)

Sorry tourist frnd I cancot tell you of any one name I have not much idea abt hotels U can go thru the website links that is good and compare.
I can only suggest to stay in bur dubai or karama As these are prime location.

There are plenty of shopping malls -hypermarkets/big brands showrooms--you will be amazed to see --

Plug ins/radio shacks/jackeys/etc are good outlets in any mall to buy electronics--In uae we use 220 V appliances but we get mostly 110-220 so can be used world wide.

You can buy gold from anywhere in dubai----damas/allukkas are few recommended shops-many branches--MUST visit gold suuq in deira dubai.Which surprised me even -kgs of gold on display in small shops-also there is a very bisg gold amrket in bur dubai-only fo gold etc jewellary--once u are here you will find yourself in shoppers paradise---no doubts you will be confused wht to buy-lot many offers now as dsf is going on-
Now abt discos etc yes -every hotel has bars-and in bur dubai you will see a chain /in a line you can say many 5 stars hotels-they usually have indian bars/filipino bars/pakistani bars-etc-you can choose---
you really donot need any guidance anyone can tell you abt these all things-
you can e-mail me-if you have any more doubts-
you can go for evening walk on beach--thts a trend here---lot of walkers and joggers u can see on corniche------you can find out prices of furnished flats-siver sand and golden sand apartments if u wish to stay longer--tht place is also in bur dubai and at walking distance from beach etc---if u love walking].
Meena bazar is bazar for indian stuffs mostly.

We stayed twice in a reasonable & decent place in Deira by the name of Al Andalus hotel . Though close to Souq Naif it is actually on the high way with in excellent proximity to cabs .

if in Dubai do a desert ride , go to Jumeirah beach , creek park (at least 4 hours do a bicycle ride and trolley ride) and malls every where . Check out he websites highlighting touring of the city.... its great !!

For restaurants and shopping besides the mall Meena Bazaar is a good place .
