Do you have a choice on insurance cost?

In 2 years if you pay $3000 (May be more) as insurance and save $24 on plate sticker then what did you gain? If it is question of saving then I can save even more by driving less and saving on fuel. The thing is how one thinks. Never mind.

Well I did not post this to encourage those who do not have car to start driving and save $24. For those who already drive insurance cost is inevitable. Driving less is always there as a cost saving factor. Hope that makes sense to you.

What is the process for doing this in advance? Usually you need the letter from MTO to get the emissions done and then the sticker.

No you don't need the letter from MTO. That letter is just a friendly reminder. I never had to use that letter. Check this page, it says, eligibility upto 6 months in advance.

You don't need a letter but emission test is required depending upon which year your car is made. You get the emission done every two years.

Cars older than 5 years need to pass emission test every 2 years.

Jigz at al

When we change the insurance company, do we have let MTO know that I have done so? I am getting this error during renewal process:

E_PLT_9 :The information you entered does not match any information we have on file. Please re-enter at least the first three letters of your insurance company.

I have change insurance company in June 2012.

Thank you in advance!
