Hi:
Any one know/has any first hand experience with registration needs for children holding PIO card in India?
When I look at
http://www.immigrationindia.nic.in/ , it clearly says "Children below 16 years of age do not require Registration, on any type of VISA. "
I told a friend of mine based on this - he was in India for the last 2 years plus - he and wife holding Indian passports and his 3 yr old kid having a US passport + PIO card. Yesterday when they were flying out of B'lore to US, the emigration official needed the registration certificate. The PIO card (I checked this in my kid's PIO card too) says nothing about exemption for kids. Anyways, after talking to a senior guy, they were allowed to fly out. Still, any one know what is the exact requirement? So confusing when the official and govt website contradicts!!
Thanks!
I would assume one has to register. PIO card holders do not require a visa to travel to India and offers other benefits as stated on the official website(s).
PIO card is not put under types of visa like student, transit, visitor, etc.
