In search of eternal happiness.....Indian citizenship to Cdn PR to Cdn citizenship to OCI to Indian citizenship.
Not sure if that guarantee happiness except for the 2 Govts who received hundreds of $ in this process.
On a serious note - if one acquires Indian citizenship, he/she would lose Cdn citizenship per India. Without formal renunciation of Cdn citizenship, wouldn't there be hassles, even if minor? For ex: travel to Canada...Canada will not issue visa since in their eyes you will be a Cdn citizen and India will not let you leave without a Cdn visa.

In India the "kagazi karwai" is "pukki" ....... you cannot get Indian citizenship till you get a letter from your "old" country that you have renounced the citizenship of that country ...... here are more details ... http://mha.nic.in/citizenship/acquisition.htm

Nightmare syndrome... Huh... Let us discuss the subject, don't bother about personal interests.
The reason I brought this to discussion is I haven't heard of anyone who re-acquired Indian citizenship (except politicians).

Thanks for the info. It's good they have the condition of renunciation before acquiring Indian citizenship. Makes it for a logical step.

I think that is because OCI is a new phenomenon (of course PIO is not) and hence it would be few more years before we might see cases of re-acquisition.

* Become MLA/MP in India
The above would be direct advantages of getting back Indian citizenship in lieu of other citizenship. I guess that many OCIs are not interested in above.
