HI,
I thought i will post this to get some answers before i can get in touch with the Indian consulate.
I recently became Canadian citizen after taking the test and all.
My wife still holding PR with Indian passport.
My kid new born - Canadian of-course.
Now, my wife is planning to go to India for her brothers marriage with the kid, so i am wondering what should i do to get my kid ready for travel.
First i thought, my son may not require any visa but that is not true as it is applicable only for parents both are still Indian citizens but i am not.
Do i have any other option than OCI for my son? and how long could it take?
Thanks for your answers in advance though.
FYI..
I already applied for passports for myself and my kid last week, and we are expecting in first week of Jan 2012.
Thanks,
srinivas
For Canadian passport holder you have only 2 options
1. Visa for travel to India
2. OCI or PIO
Your wife can travel on her PR card
For getting an OCI for your kid , you will first have to get surrender certificate for yourself & get your OCI . This might take some time -- 1-3 months .
On the other hand getting an Indian Visa is a week -10 days process .
Depends how much time you ve got ...

Go for VISA now .... to keep the things simple.
Later depending upon your requirements, you may go for OCI
Thanks all for your inputs, much appreciated... actually need visa for more than 6 months for the baby in a month time...anyways i will plan accordingly with the options i have.
Thank you
Visa is issued for an year so you d be good .
