That statement is incorrect. Take your case for example. You have a valid Indian passport but you cannot travel on it as you have acquired Canadian citizenship.

As per the latest on Indian Consulate web site, the visa fee for the two types of Visa is diffrent; almost double for visiting relatives ($ 123) than visiting places( $ 62). How to diffretiate between the two and what if one is going for both? Any one who applied recently.

That is Toronto consulate's innovation.
If you state the reason for going to India as visiting relatives, then I guess you have to get a visiting relatives visa.
Can they deport you if you can go on tourist visa and visit your relatives? Probably not.

Hi there,
I am a CDN citizen and I got my visa within 1 week (5 business days). I was born in India.
Regarding the reason for visit, I applied for 'Tourist Visa' and said that was to visit few places and meet family and friends there. I paid $62. No problems getting it.
My dad did same for a couple of times and had no problems getting it w/i a week.

Hi Guys,
I want to apply for OCI but my Canadian passport is expiring in Dec'09.
If I apply now for OCI, again I have to go thro' some procedure, when I get my new Canadian passport.
Question: Can I apply for new Canadian Passport in April?
( It is expiring in Dec'09)
Would passport issuing authority ask----why do I need early renewal?
And, what should be my answer?
