Here is where I found them.

There are Mr.Transmission, AAmco, and few independent repair shops.
Most of the re-built ones will cost you anywhere from $1600 on wards.
There are some used transmissions pulled out of scrap cars that will provide you with parts for reconditioning. But they are what they are. You have to know a lot more before you can jump into it.
Every transmission fails, because the torque converter built into it fails.
Most of the newer cars that have transmissions fails because they are unable to remove the total quantity of oil from the same, unless they are totally dismantled and overhauled. They have no Pans and No filters that could be accessed. Also the oil that we think that they are flushing or renewing is a total BUNKUM. All they can drain is only half of what is within the system. (About three quarts)The flushing is an eyewash and you pay twice as much as you would for a drain and fill. The flushing only replaces 30% of the oil and no more. Also, the oil used is suspect! Because they reuse it over and over again.
So, where do we go with this?
Is the car new and under the warranty program? Is the Power train under this warranty? Will that warranty cover all of the costs. If you are getting this done will they provide you with thiscoverage for atleast one year?? If so....
Please obtain a written estimate and the costs, prior to deciding upon the work. Ask if the torque converter is included in the price. because it will cost you another $1000 on top of your repairs. Some of the newer cars will permit the good shops to do computerized trouble shooting and might cost an initial extra. But the problem could be small and negligible. The good shops will tell you that and will provide you with a BREAK.
Auto also means cars. Are you asking for automatic transmissions? or for Manual transmissions. And what is the make of the car and how many doors and cylinders they have. What is the horse power of the engine inside of it. Have all of these informations handy from the owners manual when you discuss the same with a mechanic. Their hourly rates are $100/hr. +/- . Get all of the details before you entrust the vehicle to them. Also they will recognize your accents too.
Good Luck.
Freddie.
