hello friends
my parents would be visiting states ( ny in july) this year. they already hold us multiple visitor visa.
my question is if they want to visit us in canada. can they apply for "visitor visa" at the canadian embassy in us for the visitor visa.
1) OR it is mandatory that they apply for canadian visitor visa in india.
2) if they apply in states. what are the documents that i need to send to them in states for them to appl for the canadian visa.
3) will they get 6 months vistor visa if they apply at canadian embassy in states in ny.

1) No. You can apply while you are in the USA.
2) a) An invitation letter in which you provide their exact details with name address and passport to each of the visitor with their details. Also mention that you will be looking after their welfare and day to day needs and you will see them off at the end of their stay. Make sure that they catch their return flight out of the USA from the departing airport. ( A commitment)
b) They should have a return ticket from the USA (and a road trip with?) for an onward journey to India.
c) A health insurance policy for their duration here in Canada.
3) Generally a visitor's visa is for six months. It could be less if you want it.
There are only a few visa issuing locations in the USA. I think it is Washington in your case?? Please check their website.

Just to clarify additional point. while i am based in canada, my parents are visiting states.
I heard the canadian consulate( they have one in NY) insists that if indian passport holders should apply for canadian visa at the canadian embassy in india.
Is there possibility that they could refuse visa or give them visa only for 1 month. i need 6 months visa.

I know of not one but 2 different families where they had multiple entry visa's to USA and applied to the Canadian Embassy in NY for a tourist visa and got one.
Just show the correct cause, tourism or visit family and you should have no problem.
