Just a thought to share, Generally change of place helps anxiety and depressing to a good extent. A friend of mine went through some issues which finally got him depressed, anxious, he lost sleep and started an uninteresting approach on everything including job, food etc.., etc.,. eventually he moved temporarily to India to live with parents, friends and relatives and came back as a different man, he never went into such situation and seems he has found a way to deal with such problems.

Even change of place for a short period say a week seem to help a little but not as much as the longer one helps.

Chinu,
I second Blorean. Posting personal details is not a good idea in CD. There are always people lurking to take potshots in such instances.
Moving ahead, OHIP covers only GP services, Psychotherapy and psychatry. Hence having a person as listed above would not put a dent in your wallet (provided you donot have extended health coverage).
Hope this helps

Peace

If you require professional help you should go to the professional rather than posting personal complex issues on the forum.

You should also check with mental health department of a hospital as they have psychologists working for them. For example, Trillium has a program http://www.trilliumhealthcentre.org/programs_services/mental_health/mississauga/communityMentalHealthServices.html

The benefit of being behind an alias on the board is that you are insulated from other readers and more often than not , readers give genuine advice on CD .... so one can judge whats right and wrong per one's requirement and since the advice is most likely to be in majority , you can be confirmed that you are in the right direction ....

One can seek permission of mods to create a new id if need be , upon explaining the circumstances .

Its the right move to seek professional guidance ..... should render lot of benefit ... as our own thinking process gets affected by our circumstances. Some employers as a part of their medical coverage provide free counselling as well.

You are right - some ihings can be shared in a public forum, but there is no substitute for guidance and therapy by a qualified professional.

good luck in your quest for a psychologist. You can alternately seek out a Registered Social Worker or Registered Clinical Counsellor. They dont have PhD's necessarily but they will be slightly cheaper than a Psychologist if your extended plan is limited.

Also: Do not feel you can only go to an Indo canadian therapist. Most therapists are culturally sensitive and will ask you about cultural mores and not be judgemental on your beliefs/values.

In fact I was searching for the same for a family member and found the following:

Most of the Therapists listed by tamilkuravan in the given link are NOT Psychologists, but counselors.

Their fees are - high and is - neither covered by Extended Health Insurance nor can be claimed as a Medical Expense for income tax. The worst part is most of these people have no knowledge in Psychology/Psychiatry

Finally, I found a way to find actual Registered Psychologist from this link https://members.cpo.on.ca/members_search/new

Also, I find this clinic in Scarborough who are real Desi Psychologists http://desipsychologist.blogspot.com/ Though I am not advertising them, we found them very good and helpful in terms of treatment.

Chinu,

Upon googling, I found the above link. Each psycologist (theraists) has an introduction and hence upon reading the introduction you may be able to pick one who is suitable for you. Upon reading the link, I found that these psycologists are not covered by OHIP but MAY be covered by your exteneded health coverage (if you have one).

You can also call the Ontario college of psycologists (google to get their link / number) to see how they can help.

Hope this helps and all the best in your therapy.

Peace
