I got my PR and was in Canada before I got married. I went back to India to get married, came back to Canada and then applied for my wife PR.
In total it took 11Months to her PR. Also I never went through a consultant. No need for that. This is the most simplest case of all types.

2 Years ? I heard it is much faster. Moreover, she will be here and thus there is something called "Application for Permanent Residence in Canada — Spouse or Common-law Partner"
This application is for spouses or common-law partners of Canadian citizens or permanent residents who wish to apply for permanent residence while both the sponsor and the applicant are residing in Canada.
And I heard it will be just 6 months or so...
I think you are referring to a case where she is in India and I am here and I sponsor her here.
Anyways, thank you for the reply. Will check...with CIC site....

Two Years : Yes.
"Application for Permanent Residence in Canada" Yes. Not for people on PR
Canadian Citizens : Yes They are in a different Category, PR's don't have that privilege yet.
You heard it wrong. If you get it, It is your Good Luck.
You did not read my comments in the previous response: First see if your family can get in. If they do, then, you are fortunate. They will catch the same while checking up. Which means, that they will refuse the VISA. You say that she will be here. I know that she will be here and I sincerely hope it is sooner than two years.
Next comment: You cannot barge in and claim that they are here and so, provide them with PR. You are seeing my response, but do not want to read it. Very convenient, isn't it?
Next time try and keep all of these in the same thread, if you don't mind. This way there will be continuity. Also we don't have to repeat the response for you or any one all over again.
I am trying to let you down gently. You want to land with a thud. Then so be it.
Good Luck
Freddie.

I got my PR Card before my marriage, went to India married and from there went to USA to study but between that had a kid in India and then had the next kid while studying, finished my studies and then came to Toronto with my PR Card.
Iam doing my rounds for various job intervews and have Canadian experience and an American qualification. Iam not entirely a newbie here. Also, my citizenship time is cming soon as my days as a student here will also be counted as half.
