I got my PR and was in Canada before I got married. I went back to India to get married, came back to Canada and then applied for my wife PR.
In total it took 11Months to her PR. Also I never went through a consultant. No need for that. This is the most simplest case of all types.

This application is for spouses or common-law partners of Canadian citizens or permanent residents who wish to apply for permanent residence while both the sponsor and the applicant are residing in Canada.

And I heard it will be just 6 months or so...

I think you are referring to a case where she is in India and I am here and I sponsor her here.

Anyways, thank you for the reply. Will check...with CIC site....

Two Years : Yes.

"Application for Permanent Residence in Canada" Yes. Not for people on PR

Canadian Citizens : Yes They are in a different Category, PR's don't have that privilege yet.

You heard it wrong. If you get it, It is your Good Luck.

You did not read my comments in the previous response: First see if your family can get in. If they do, then, you are fortunate. They will catch the same while checking up. Which means, that they will refuse the VISA. You say that she will be here. I know that she will be here and I sincerely hope it is sooner than two years.
Next comment: You cannot barge in and claim that they are here and so, provide them with PR. You are seeing my response, but do not want to read it. Very convenient, isn't it?

Next time try and keep all of these in the same thread, if you don't mind. This way there will be continuity. Also we don't have to repeat the response for you or any one all over again.

I am trying to let you down gently. You want to land with a thud. Then so be it.

Good Luck

Freddie.

Hey Freddie,

Thankyou for your care to make me land gently. Much appreciated.

My wife was granted VISA.She is coming in a couple of weeks. She has been sponsored by my niece who is a Canadian citizen.

There is something called in-land spousal sponsorship and this is valid even for Permanent Residents too. This is my humble take on the issue. Anyways, I will verify it again directly with the authorities.

As "askcanada" hinted: It takes anywhere between 4 months to 11 months to do this.I know I can do this because right before my eyes, one of my friends did it.

My question was different: It was regarding income, co-sponsorship &showing Financial stability for support.

Iam doing my rounds for various job intervews and have Canadian experience and an American qualification. Iam not entirely a newbie here. Also, my citizenship time is cming soon as my days as a student here will also be counted as half.

I think there was some miscommunication on my part and I take the entire blame for not explaining the facts properly.

Thankyou very much for the time spent on my query.
I saw the Ambada pickle available in "India Town Shop" near Markham and Lawerence next to the Dollorama stores, if you are still searching for it. It is also available in Bombay Stores in the same area behind Subway.

Have a good day!

You are right "askcanada". This is what I heard. I just wanted to confirm whether I need to be in a job immidiately to sponsor her and my first kid.Second kid is an American citizen and need not bother my head right now with that. Maybe later on I can apply for my second kid for PR.

So where did you study(USA/Canada)? What did you study? In the one post you said you have an American qualification. Now you telling your days as student will count towards citizenship?

Can you tell me how?
