My objection is because of the misleading title.
The Nuclear Suppliers Group has no authority over the Indo-US nuclear deal. The authority they have is over the US and other member states to allow them to trade in nuclear related matters with India. What has happened at Vienna is that the NSG has given a clean waiver to India.
Waiver in the sense that according to NSG guidelines nuclear trade is permitted only with those countries that have signed the NNPT and the CTBT.
Clean in the sense that there have been no conditions attached. With this waiver, the member states of the NSG are free to sell nuclear fuel and hardware to India, according to their own national rules and regulations. This actually puts the US to a disadvantage, since US companies cannot do business with India till the US Congress approval. That is the last hurdle that the Indo-US nuclear deal now faces.
But even if the US Congress votes down or delays its deliberations, India has a world full of nuclear suppliers ready to do business with it now!!!
