Hey everyone!
I need some info. on exchanging my driver's license if I move to Ontario after my final exams.
Here is some background info. :
My current location: Winnipeg, Manitoba
My study permit : expires on the December, 6th 2008
I mailed my completed application for the renewal on October, 21, 2008.
Currently, the CIC office is processing study permit applications recieved upto August 26, this year! I dont know when will my turn come.
My Driver's License expires on December 24, 2008.
Now I wish to move to Ontario so that I can transfer my credits to another College while I am on what they call " Implied Status ".
I wana know if the ministry of Transportation in Ontario requires me to have a valid study permit incase I want to exchange my driver's license from another province?
I dont wana be stuck without a vehicle and I dont know If I can exchange my license from another province in Ontario before it expires even if I am just waiting for my new study permit to arrive by mail.
Any experiences, tips or suggestions are welcome!
Your Visa in the Passport has to have a validity at the time of applying here in Ontario for your Driver's License, at the time of exchange. So please wait to hear from the CIC and get an extension stamped for validity. Then go to the MOT department. You could have gotten an International Driver's License, in the interim.
Hope this helps.
Freddie.
