Hi Guys,
i mite be visiting india soon for couple of months. I will be diriving a bike and a car..i can get motorcycle license but driving license wud prolly take me mroe 2 months to get..
now i came across this website form caa

has any ever gottent his permit to drive in india?

Very nice information.
AT $15 it looks dead cheap. CAA has many offices all across Ontario issuing IDP. Kindly get it from the nearest branch that issues it.
On a side note, may be not many police men in India would recogonise this IDP and they would want you to pay them some moolah to let you go , in case they do some spot checks. However this IDP can legally help you , in case you meet with some accident (God forbid) in India. Having said this, I also encourage you to take vehicle insurance (available with all insurance companies in India) when you land in India.
I will also take this IDP when I go to India.

well i think even if i have an idnian license..an indian pplice wudnt let me go without giving em money...i think i have mentioned it b4 in some other post...as soon as they(policemen) see a car with different state's license plate..they wud stop u for no reason...
i wonder if theres any law that says in india that.. u cant take ur car out of ur state by any chance?
im originally from Gujarat and everytime we go to mumbai we get pulled over for no reason...and we have to give em 50 or 100 rupees..
anyways back to our topic...
ill be getting IDP soon...
