How do these staffing agencies work when they sub contract you ? Do they take a cut on your hourly rate and does that cut differ from agency to agency ?
For eg if a Company assign 80/hr for a position .... then ... do these Consultants offer 50/- , 60 , 65 to the sub contractors or on a hiring company assigned say 60/hr they charge 15-20% ?
Under either case does the rate for the same position vary b/w agencies and if yes which amongst the above are better ? Thanks .

not worked directly for anyone of them. But I am an IT Consultant and deal with some of their recruiters most of the time..I would say Procom is good atleast paywise and good clients(based on experience of other consultants I know who work from Procom). Teksystems also is ok but you have to be a touch negotiator. Sapphire low pay, unacceptable contracts - not something i would recommend.
I'm thru TEK Systems, dont have any experience of other agencies as this is my first job in canada. But am there with TEK since last one year and found them pretty professional. I did'nt know you had to bargain in Canada so dint negotiate, but if you are going thru them then I suggest you negotiate in the beginning. That's what my co-workers told me, and they have a good margin, the client gives them a fixed rate and then they negotiate with you for their cut.
I'd gone for an interview thru Procom , and on the sheet which they told me to take for my interview, they had written the rate discussed with me, so Procom works differently I guess, they decide the rate with you and then forward it to the client.
Thanks Guys for your valuable inputs .
And is it mandatory / practice to have an informal session with them before they represent you ? I do not mind that , but wish to avoid a break from work to do so - hence hesitant . ....... I wish they would get us a client interview first .

I guess, the recruiter will meet you first, then the account manager will speak to you on phone, would ask for two refrences and then the interview will happen.
That was the sequence of events for me... all the best
