I with my wife and son are landed immigrants and arrived in Canada in 2007.My mother did accompany us then and was on a visit, with my sisters invitation letter. My mother has been with us always but at the time we applied for our landed papers she refused saying she has no intention to come to Canada, though we did put her name as dependent.

Now she is back in Mumbai and missing us espcially my son and same is with us here, we are getting her again on a visit, what would be the best thing to do inorder to sponser her...is it better she first arrives and then we apply for her sponsership or viceavera.pls advice!

If u have any other opinion, pls advice.

waiting eagerly for a reply.

Thanking yourll!!

Joe

When you put her name in the application as a dependent, did she undergo any medical clearance? She must have passed that time.

First you apply for her Visitor's Visa. Make it a multiple entry one and she can come as often as she can. Also stay here for the duration that it was issued for.

Then if she is comfortable here with you all, you can start the sponsorship process. When the Visa expires, she will have to return and wait for the sponsorship Process to complete. It normally takes anywhere from 3-4 years. She could have avoided all of the delays by riding on your coat tail. Now there is this delay that is going to hurt. But it will give her a chance to go back and forth to India and enjoy the flights. You will have to coach her and also provide her with guidance in her travels or find a suitable companion every time, prior to her travels, if she is shaky and not confident in the travels.

Hope this helps you a little.

Freddie.

Thank you for your time and advice!!

My mother hasnt gone thru any medicals, neither did she receive any papers its just the information on papers that we did mention that she stays with us
( Yes we had got her medicals done when we applied for her visitors visa)
When we get her here on visit,we hope she gets a multiple visa, and if not can we keep extending her visit visa every six months and in the meanwhile apply for her sponsorship. and get her Insurance updated.

Fred one more thing, what all do we need to send her for applying for the visa.

Thank you again!!

Regards,

Joe

Try and obtain a multiple entry visa for her. Same as before. You should have the old copy just work with it, If you get stuck, there are a few local help centers and they will do it for you free. They are called Immigrant help centers. You will see a posting from one Mr. P.Kalra here and he does a wonderful job of helping people.

While you are at one such place, get all of this and any thing else that you want to do at that location and they will help you with all of the details and with all of the forms etc., and will do it for you right there. How is that for service. (All of this is free service)

You have no problems. You are in good hands.

Good Luck.

Freddie.

Sometimes husband and wife have different ID's...
May be spouse was logged on under a diff ID when peacock replied .
At many times ppl do not want to reveal their regular ID when asking personal Q's .
This is all my assumptions and I might be wrong ....
Peacock can shed light better
