Hi group

I applied for my mother’s sponsorship in Oct 2004. I got the file # but nothing after that. I was wondering if any of you can answer for the following questions;

1) Usually, how long does it take to get the approval and to finally get the PR for my mother.

2) Has any one in the group who has also applied for their mother in 2004 recd any response from CIC.

3) My mother has a valid visit visa right now which is expiring in May 2007. She is outside of Canada now. I am planning to bring her to Canada in April before the visit visa expires. Would she have any problem entering Canada on this visit visa while her PR application is in progress.

Any help is much appreciated.

The current processing time for Stage I sponsorship of parents is 28 months. If you submitted your file in October 2004, you should be receiving the decision on your sponsorship application anytime. So keep your fingers crossed.

As long as your mother has a valid visa, she will have no problem entering Canada (even while the PR application is being processed)

After your file is approved, it will be sent to New Delhi for further processing, which may take 6 months to 2 years, so in the worst case scenario, your mother's PR would be issued by early 2009.
