I am a citizen of canada living in India.I am a GIS(Geographical Information System) Professional.I want to do job in USA.Is there any placement consultant who can get me a job in my field in USA.From the net I found many placement consultants giving placement in IT but no one in GIS.


Please help me.

Amoung the many uses for a GIS professional , I find that this is used in all retail industries especially the real estate departments.

Eg in USA you may want to look at

a. Walgreens, Rite aid, CVS
b. McDonalds, Dunkin Donoughts, Starbucks etc.
c. Any and every company which has chain retail outlets.
d. TJ Max, Marshalls all clothing retailers.


All these make extensive use of GIS mapping technologies coupled with Dempgraphic and traffic info to try and find the right spot/ corner for their proposed location.

So you may want to search for Real Estatate Analyst position . OF all the above companies , I know specifically use GIS professionals and their expertise.

You may also want to touch base with Pitney Bowes which has taken over the erstwhile MapInfo where GIS solutions are offered to retailers.

Oilfield requires GIS people but right now oilfield is in downturn. will have to wait.
