Hello everybody,

I was asked by CHC to submit PCC from UAE where I had been for approx. 7 years. I already have my fingerprinting done and attested by the UAE consulate in Mumbai (I am based in Surat). I had a few queries which I hope may be answered here;

1. I know that I have to apply separately for my wife and myself. But can I send both applications in the same envelope ?
2. What are the fees for the PCC ? Is it US$ 35/- per application ? Does the DD have to be in US$ or UAE Dirhams equivalent ?
3. On whose name do I have to draw the DD ?
4. Which dept. do I address the envelope ?
5. When can I expect to receive the PCC from Sharjah ?
6. Is any follow-up allowed with the Sharjah Police ? If yes, how ?

Thanks in advance.

7. Will the PCC be in English or Arabic ? Is the fee structure different for PCC in English ?

Thanks.

Hi, I cannot answer your queries in the first post as I never done PCC from India for UAE, but for your second question about the language in which PCC is provided; It is in English and will be mentioned Police Clearance Certificate and will also be mentioned for Embassy of Canada. Entire matter is in English and nothing seperately in Arabic and never asked me if I need it in Arabic or English as such.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply, newincanada. You might have applied for the UAE PCC from somewhere else and not from India. Could you atleast tell me the name on whom you had the DD drawn ? Was your visa from Sharjah ?

Hi Freedom24x7,

Did you check with the UAE consulate in India whether they can provide you a PCC?

When I was in Brunei, I got my PCC for Malaysia from the Malaysian High Commission in Brunei (I was working in Malaysia for a while). That way it would save you some trouble.

I believe the same could be applicable to UAE also (I mean UAE consulate may be able to issue a PCC to you after referring your details to Sharjah Police).

I suggest you to check that.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.:)

Ash06, I already checked with the UAE consulate when I had gone there for the attestation and they said that I would have to do it on my own. Hard luck.

Hi Freedom24x7,

In that case, the best thing would be to get it done through some of your contacts in Sharjah.

Believe me; I had a tough time getting a PCC from Sharjah Police, though I was in Sharjah. But that was partly due to the fact that my visa was from Dubai and I was residing in Sharjah.

In my experience, Sharjah Police were quite uncooperative and not willing to help. Every time they kept on finding some excuses for not clearing my case and asked me to go to Dubai Immigration for some or other clarification / information. Many people with Dubai visa faced the same problem with them.

If your visa was from Sharjah, then it would be much easier to get a PCC from Sharjah Police. I have seen many people having Sharjah visa getting PCC's easily from them.

But getting PCC from Dubai Police is much easier in my experience. In my case I took both (Dubai and Sharjah PCC's).
