I have a Canadian passport which is going to expire in June. I will be going to India in Jan. This means passport will have validity period of less than six months during the time of travel. Is it mandatory to get it renewed before travel? Is there any rule that entry to India demands a passport of validity more than six months?
Please advice or provide link/telephone where I can get more info.
Thanks in advance
If u have PIO or OCI, u r fine. You can come back and renew the passport. I came back 2 days before the passport expired.

You have more than enough time to renew your passport before your travel - it's only October yet.
Why take a chance, regardless of what the "rule" may be?

U dont need a OCI sticker. Get the old passport back. Renewal is very fast. Matter of few days. Its a one page form I believe.
