I bet the OP is smiling .. for posting a debatable topic and not participating in it ....

Fido.
My child is in elementary school and based on what she is doing I find the educational system is all about understanding and confidence and almost nothing about rote learning. That has its advantages and disadvantages in my opinion.
I am going through grad school myself and find the educational system here an absolute pleasure. The facilities at your disposal are amazing and there is an enabling attitude in the universities rather than "lets make things as difficult as possible and see how you succeed" I found back in India. As a University student I can choose courses from across the university without limiting myself to my home school. In two courses I am doing right now I can design the courses based on my academic needs/focus and I am the only student in the "class"

My daughter is in Grade I ... and I can see one distinct difference.
She has learnt & understands the meaning of "to each of its own". Accepts that every individual is different & Respects for what they are without getting into comparing n finding faults.

Well, I don't have to say much but we should not forget the end results.
The end result is that Canadian students always found themselves weak in Science/Math irrespective of the facilities they get in Canada.
Who cares about the education environment, if Canadian students asked to compete with Asians in Math/Science, they will definitely fail.
There are lot more schools/universities (Other than IITs) in India, which provide very good education.

One could ask how is excelling in Math and Science the only way to judge the merit of an education system? Who says Math and Science make one more educated, more open minded, more understanding and more knowledgeable?
This is why discussions put up like this by the OP will ultimately turn back into India vs Canada debates that go no where.
If you think Indian education is better, then simply go and get educated IN INDIA. If you think it is better in Canada, then study in Canada.
