Last week the right wing parties of Switzerland organized a referendum on banning the construction of minarets on Islamic place of worship. There about 400,000 muslims in Swiss and this was triggered after just 8 minarets being present in Swiss currently.

The church opposed it, the ruling government opposed it but the people of Swiss have voted for it 57% for banning it.

The democracy wins and choice of majority of the people stands.

The logic for this referendum was that it is the minaret first, followed by the speaker calling for prayers, which is followed by a call for implementation of the Sharia Law.

Extending the case to GTA to present day:

There are nearly million South Asians in GTA today. What if in near future the population of this location does a referendum on any issue related to them and gets it voted in would it be fair?.

As in a Democracy the VOTE counts irrespective of the legality or the fairness of the issue.

Is this an eye opener for Canada ?.

ISn't this just a referendum?

This is not binding.

Switzerland politicians were sweating after the results thinking that there might be a backlash and billions of Petro dollars stashed in their banks might be withdrawn. I do not see this being implemented. In any case, what might be banned is Minarates. It does not stop construction of mosues. The fact is that Islam is the fastest growing religion with billions of followers and a very strong sense of unity which pays huge dividend politically as in any democracy, number matters.

You maybe right. But there are two major events which you haven't accounted for.

1) A growing number of Muslims are abandoning their faith quietly in countries like Iran, Egypt, and Turkey. In fact have their own websites namely http://faithfreedom.org/. Prominent ex-Muslims like Ali Sinai, Salman rushdie, Magdi allam etc.

2) A large number of Muslim populations are losing lives in the continuous cycle of Violence in Middle East, Pakistan, Africa etc.

I fully disagree with you. You can not take judgement based on browsing web sites as to how many people are leaving or joining the faith. Compared to number of people killed, number of people born are 1000 times higher.

One must accept the fact that given the present system of democracy and socialism, Islam is bound to capture and rule the world. Look at India which, in my opinion, is more Isslamic country.

increase population and keep males happy by giving the upper hand by religous edict... and you have a thriving religion!

That precisely is the problem. Instead of fighting to bring change these well known faces of Islam are abandoning and running away, giving the control of the religion to the goons. And we all agree that that is the religion going to rule world very soon. "God" save us.

Change has to come from within. Losers are are running away.

Wait and watch, time will tell.

Just curious, how long have you been waiting and watching and how much more time you are planning to wait and watch?
