Time to get the Indian citizenship back.
No wonder I was feeling lost for the last 1 year.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

There is no such thing as Dual Citizenship
All this is a Overseas Citizen registration who can travel to India without Visa for life.

1. If it is a dual citizenship then will they issue a Indian passport
answer - No

2. Then what will be given upon payment of the so called Dual citizen fee

Answer - A Visa stamp in the holders foreign passport. Whiah has to be restamped each time the holders foreign passport expires or changes

3. If it is a dual citizenship you should be able to travel on either of your passports ( for example - You can use your Canadian or Indian passport to enter Europe )

Answer - No. This Visa is not a passport and is valid only for travel to India

4. The list can go on and on... but here is one interesting thing
The holder of this type of Visa will be eligible to apply for Indian citiizenship after a stay of 5 years in India. Since India does not support or give Dual citizenship one has to relinquish his/her foreign passport to obtain Indian citizenship..

As per the provisions of section 5(1) (g) of the Citizenship Act, 1955, a person who is registered as OCI for 5 years and is residing in India for 1 year out of the above 5 years, is eligible to apply for Indian Citizenship.

Why they are charging C$ 421/- for each applicant. Equivalent of USD 275 will somewhere around C$330/-. Is Canadian consualte ripping off?

Sydney consualte is charging A$ 396/-.

Can anybody explain?

I checked with them if i can pay them in US and they said no.. They are ripping us off.

part from being ripped by those fees, i heard that they only take cash at the counters..!!!
No debit card , No Visa, No Mastercard , No personal cheques...etc
all for a lifelong "visa" to India
