I am with Rogers for my cable (and internet). Recently I am getting calls from Bell reps, offering same level of services with big savings. One main difference I can see is about TV programming; Rogers have it via cable whereas Bell will install dishes and receivers.

Plz opine.

Rogers has recently instituted an extra fee for higher bandwidth users.
But at the same time Bell has been steadily increasing the rates for its high bandwidth and unlimited bandwidth users.
Don't be fooled by their promises of "big savings" - those are all teaser deals to get you hooked on to them and sign a 2 or 3 year contract.
Essentially, there is very little difference between the overall fees you pay with either of these companies over the long run.
If Bell's offering you a good deal go with them but keep in mind that the discounts will end at some point.
Either prepare to pay higher fees then or switch to lower cost and lower grade providers like TekSavvy

I have been scouting for reliable high speed internet for sometime now. Heard great reviews for TekSavvy, but the reviews had an underlying issue everytime - if there is a problem with the line outside your home, they have to depend on BELL to fix it - who is not obligated to attend immediately. Also there is some kind of movement at top level where BELL and ROGERS are trying to eliminate all the reseller by a ruling from CRTC - so TekSavvy, ACANAC, TELUS, PRIMUS etc..will all be gone. http://saveournet.ca/

Also, none of the DSL resellers gaurantee bandwidth - you need to install it to confirm - so you end up cancelling your current and try another for 1 month, then another for 1 month..etc..till you find the match. In the meanwhile you have to buy Modems/routers for each reseller...

ROGERS gives good speed but thier bandwidth charges are too high.

Nothing is as simple as it should be. :(

IMO, it is easier to choose a candidate in election than to choose Bell v/s Rogers. There is nothing like lesser of two evil:(

Perhaps we should write a letter to our MP to bring in more players in Cable TV/ISP business and remove this monopoly.

If only it were that easy.
Bell and Rogers have got our telecommunications market by the proverbial balls.
Telecom in Europe and Far East is one extreme with multiple competing providers and competitive pricing/services and we are on the other extreme with a bad oligopoly.
The US is in the middle of the spectrum.
