Hey guys!

Awesome to be part of the desi community here!

I got a job at a company based on Tahoe Blvd, which is just off the intersection of Eastgate and Eglinton Ave E.

Now I need a place to live in Missisauga for four months...I was wondering if anyone knew anyone renting a room in their house or basement in Mississauga? The preferred area is near the intersection mentioned, but I depend on public transit (Missisauga Bus) or walking distance. I could live near square one mall as well.

Can anyone guide me on how to approach this problem? My range would be from $400 - $500...

congratulations on new job.
i think your range of $400 - $500 p.m. is not realistic.
you won't get even a 1 br. apartment at that price, esp. if you move west towards the Sq1. area.
in the tahoe blvd. area that price might get you a really run down unkempt basement apartment.
i think your range should be at least in the $800 for a basement apartment and about $1000 for a 1 br. apartment.
so stay true to your name (Shehzaada) and look for something half decent :D

I think the OP is asking for a sharing and not an apartment ... he should be able to get a sharing in 500/- ..

Please be mindful that the area you ve mentioned is on the border of Toronto and Mississauga ..... so search in Mississauga to avoid double fare ...

Check out craigslist / kijiji / Toronto Star classifieds ..

LOL..thanks for the reply!

I was just comparing prices from the Guelph/Waterloo area...(I'm from Guelph). Here you can get one room in a basement apartment, utilities included, for around $450. Is it true that I cannot get this anywhere near Missisauga...not even living in someone's basement?

And Fido, you are correct, I am only looking to share because I have to move again in 4 months. What would be ideal would be to live in a desi uncle's basement!

For that location, 4701 tahoe blvd, where would be good places to live? Do you think it's feasible to live near the square one area? (The bus ride from the bus terminal takes about 18 minutes)

The other option is commuting from Guelph...Bus to square one, bus to work, and same on the way back

Run down fast to these locations and see if they are still available to you to rent when you are due to arrive here. Post your name and keep yourself on the waiting list. Make sure that there are no catches, such as Hydro Extra etc.,

A good search will bring up a few more good ones and I am sure you can come PRETTY Close to your budget.

Some rooming housed will provide you with TV, Phone and Internet too all inclusive. So search for some thing that will have a few good features in your favour.

Freddie.

thanks so much Freddie. I have contacted the first link, the other links as you mention are a little too far..

I wonder, would it be a long shot to drive down to near the Bough Beeches Blvd area and give out flyers. I'm sure one of those people would want to rent out a room to someone? Or is that kinda creepy?

Please post it on the Kijiji or the Craigslist. That should do. Also keep your eye open and check the ads in the Saturday News Papers. (You have to be here to check them out, no use talking over the phone. Most of them want to see you face to face, before they rent to a new individual.

WOW, that is a POSH area...
