I hope more desi faculty embrace this. Maybe, then "Dr.Rashpal Singh" will not find the student from his former home town somehow better than the other one who hailed from several hundred miles away to the south or "Dr.Gopalakrishnan" do the opposite to the student from the north.
The anonymous outsource may be more non-discriminating. 
BTW, the above names are **not** fictitious.
