I know many help CD's help each other informally through this forum but I was wondering if anyone had been/is volunteering currently as a mentor for newcomers (like through an organisation that helps newcomers). A friend and I were contemplating registering as mentors and I would like to hear about your suggestions/experiences.. which organisations do you recommend (or not), what are the expectations (do they expect you to connect the newcomer to a job or is it just talking to them about how things are in your profession and connecting them to others in the field?). Any other comments/experiences about how your overall experience has been would be appreciated.

We started a MEMO initiative a few years ago (old timers will remember that). Mentors in Motion.

It fizzled out due to lack of takers.

I am all for a 2nd try, let me know what's needed.
