After reading this posting you please decide whether you are happy that Canada lost its bid.
It has come to the open that the reason was USA.
USA voted for Canada but did not plug for Canada with other nations.
Obama is more interested in supporting Islamic nation causes in order to win over their sympathy than helping Canada which has a close relation and support for Israel.
Hence the US's ambassador in UN stayed away from the Canadian support as it did not want to be perceived to be supporting an Israeli supporter.
One of my Pakistani Friend a Canadian citizen was very happy that Canada did not win the seat.
The reason he gave was that Canada gave Haiti about 80 million dollars for earthquake relief while it just gave 1 million for Pakistans flood relief. Eventhough Canada has a big population of Pakistanis it was let down by Canada.
Hence all the Islamic countries did not support Canada and hence Canada lost its bid.
But none of these guys have an answer when asked how come all the Islamic nations did not provide funds but Taliban was the sole provider for relief.
I do not understand this twisted logic, while I fully support Harpers worry that every dollar sent there will be abused by the military and not with the people who need aid.
It is also very interesting with the UAE issue about the relocation of the base and also how they denied the landing to the aircraft of the Canadian defence minister.
I fully support Harper for preserving the Air Canada's interests and if UAE will not allow Canadian landing the loss is theirs and NOT Canada's.
In the long run we will realize how a patriot Harper is and I love his Canada first logic.
What is the point in sitting in UN or fighting a war in Afghanistan when the monies could be used to fix the Steeles Avenue or reducing the deficit than pumping monies to support these dictators who abuse power.
