It's always interesting to understand the reasons people decide to relocate to Canada and this explains some of the reasons

they have no idea what they are getting into. What was that adij about "Out of the frying pan and into the fire??"

I don't know how much fact and fiction have gone into writing this article about people emigrating from England to Canada. To say that one of the reasons was that \"UK lacked proper summers, had too much rain and too many gray days and not enough snow\" does not make sense. Well at least those living in UK can not complain about the \"lack of snow\", as mother nature poured thousands of tons of snow over there, this year.
The other ridiculous reasons cited were \"chav-culture, too many asylum seekers, easy access to drugs, rising crime rates, yob culture, the London congestion charge, overcrowding, litter, graffiti, traffic congestion and too many clubs and pubs encouraging drinking for young people\" Those who live in downtown Toronto know that these issues exist here too, or for that matter in any part of Canada. Look up the \"rants and rave\" columns of Craigslist, Toronto, and you will see how people gripe about the same issues as existing here.
Let us not forget that Canadians are good at following a little of the US and , the UK, when it comes to policies that govern us.
I may be wrong, but I think the article was, a figment of the author's imagination.
The reasons provided are just the opinions of the people interviewed and may or may not be a valid reason to leave the UK. That said it IS the reason that particular person believes and as such should be taken in the context it was given. We all have our reasons for seeking a better life and they indeed may sound unrealistic to others, to that particular person we're sure it's a good enough one to uproot themselves and move half way across the world. What they find when they land is indeed the subject of many discussions on here and on other forums and often the same kind of things are found here in Canada, crime, poor services etc etc .

I do not agree with Desi Tiger, coz the Brits have their own survival skills u know what i mean 'gore gore'
They have been migrating from ages....i think you should Google The great potato famine in Ireland,
For them the weather is not an issue like us (people from non frigid/cold conditions)
and they are more outdoor types.
Also their social upbringing( skilled trade education) is the same, unlike us who come here with high degrees and then look up at people which practice skilled trade.
Also wondering why was this thread started in the first place as it is so specific of people migrating from Britain or UK, unlike us CD who belong to SE Asia.
Quote:I heard an aged, grouchy, Brit woman who immigrated to Canada after being pestered by her daugther and son-in-law say that even the roses don't smell the same.
