Hi folks! I'm new here. I plan to apply for Canada PR this year.
1. Is it a good idea to apply through a consultancy (like XXXXX, Visa Master etc)? These consultants charge about 50-60k, but claim that they will help us with documentation et al.
2. Does our Indian work experience count when I start looking for jobs in Canada? Or is it the case that all new immigrants start with 4-5k pay checks? I'm asking this because I'm hearing that a lot of immigrants starts with low salaries (like 4-5k).
1) You can apply through consultancy but they will not be of great help because you need to arrange every single document by you own. Consultant will only guide you what to do and how to do? Appplying though consultant only gives very little or no edge.
2) I am not in Canada but planning to land in future, basis my research and comments by various senior cd's, you will be very lucky if you get 4-5k job to start with. Please keep this in mind that lot of new immigrants struggles during initial few months and do labour jobs also for survival. ( This is again my observation, Seniors please correct me if I am wrong)

Of course, you can apply it from the consultancy which will save you a lot of energy. With the help of them, you will get a PR successfully and quickly because they are experienced in doing that job.
If you fell the charge fails you, you can ask some people who applied it before. I think they will do you a great favor.
I am not a local and have no idea about the actual procedures of how to apply the PR.

Thanks for the replies guys. If finding a job is difficult, is it because -
1. There aren't enough jobs suiting our skill set or
2. Whites / French are given preference in most jobs?
Can someone who knows the real situation in Canada.. please shed light on this?
Btw, I see that one consultant I posted above has been masked by the forum (Guess I know what that means ;-), and which consultant to skip).
Whites/French (canadian) will always be given Preference. Its their country. Most countries prefers citizens than immigrants.
Specify your skill set and related position you are looking for. CDs in that field may shed some light.

Hi pokiri, Thanks for the reply.
I'm into Software Testing & Automation. I'll first do a search on Canadian job sites, if there's demand for my skill-set.
