Dear all,

I hope I am putting my query under the right thread. If not, please excuse me as I am a new member.

We are a family of 4, currently in Pune, India. We moved here a year ago from the States. Just before leaving States we got our Canada immigration. We did not think much about it at that time. Moving to India was our priority.

But now we are seriously thinking of moving to Canada as hubby is not at all happy with this job. He has been searching for a good job all over India but in vain. He has 12 years of IT experience (AS400 project manager) but due to the rare technology he is not getting a matching job + good salary.

I have varied experience: software loclaization testing, german translations, freelance web research, social networking management.

We have 2 kids. Ages 9 and 2.

I am aware that Indian work exp does not matter much in Canada. Hubby has US/Europe work exp but I have only India based work exp.

How would you suggest we should go about our job search?

Any fellow Pune ites planning to move to Canada?

Please touch base.

You can try the traditional search sites such as monster, workopolis, indeed, etc. However, I believe it might be hard securing a position while living in India regardless of the work experience. You may have to move here, at least one of you, to secure a job. US experience is considered good.

Both of you join the university over here and upgrade your degrees.

I think your husband will qualify to apply for PR but finding job may be tough. See http://www.canadiandesi.com/read.php?TID=27831&page=1#163498. You can go to CIC website and see if you qualify to apply for PR.

I am assuming that has expired since it does not look like medical/stamping of passport or landing was completed. Also occupation list for PR has changed and some of those who qualified under occupation list do not qualify under new list.

NOC 0213 for computer people is no more on the occupation list after 26 June 2010. Application can not be filed now.
