Please pack your bags and leave by the next flight.

Every water attains its level and the same way you guys will find your path after some struggle.

The way India is progressing it will be scary in the next few years.

People are dying like swatted mosquitoes due to dengue and H1N1 all over India. Even if you have the best job with the best salary your life is not guaranteed.

With the whole CWG in a mess and main guy behind this Suresh Kalmadi from your own town, I do not know what he will do to Pune next.

Bail out before it is too late.

Have a Goal - Means will follow!.

I do hope Aap Ka Bharath Mahaan ?.

Folks,

Thanks for your replies ! We already have our PR cards ! We have immigrated ! We stayed in Canada for a few weeks to pick up our PR cards !

The only reason we r thinking of the move is because we have PR cards and in order to validate those we have to move there within a certain period else they will lapse !

Now what do you have to say?

"AS400 project manager" - Its difficult to understand the profile from that statement. However, major banks in North America still depend on mainframes and will continue to do so. If your husband is technically qualified from an AS400 perspective, as a reader suggested earlier, please review the job boards. For Project Management, PMP, ITIL or similar qualification is preferred.

As regards your profile, considering the fact that you appear to be open to try out stuff, and that you will continue to be open to explore new areas, it may not be very difficult for you to land a part time job. Given that you have 2 kids you may want to focus on settling down and then going back to the job force in a year or two.

Please do understand that since you are working in the IT industry in India, the standard of living that you have there is not comparable to what we have here. Please not that I am not talking about "quality of life". Your potential to save will reduce and you may have to accept/adopt to a less expensive lifestyle. Not mention the initial struggle and to be prepared to accept the consequences and not quit.

Searching and getting a job remotely (forget India, even from US) is difficult. Unlike US, here the headhunters such as Saphire, CGI etc want to see your face and if they like you then they will forward your resumes over to the end clients (such as banks, big corporations etc). Although these recruiters are stupid but you have to go thru them to get a job. There are few chances that you might get one from one of those sites but again unlike US, here you need to be present to get a job.
Suggestion/experience: When we migrated (from US and were in same boat as you guys..all stuff packed for India but moved to Canada at last minute), we gave ourselves a timeline. If we do not get a job within 3 months the packed stuff will be shipped from Canada to India (instead from US). fortunately it worked. Got job with a month but had to go thru the process described above. So the suggestion is that one you set a timeline come on over here and search for job. This will minimize cost and increase the chance of getting a job. Let me warn you though..Canada is not like US though it has some resemblence...you prolly better off in India or in US.
Ask DesiTiger if in doubt

Good luck!

Dear all,

Thanks again for the prompt replies.

Amitava: My hubby is a PM (technology AS400). He does not mind switching to another technology as a PM but not recd any such offers.

manserwadekar : 'Let me warn you though..Canada is not like US though it has some resemblence...you prolly better off in India or in US.
Ask DesiTiger if in doubt ' - could you please elaborate?

Most replies that I have recd are very very discouraging in the sense that the common voice is 'you are better off in India' !

Let me add something. What if I say we want to stay in Canada only for 3 years (till we get citizenship) come back to India and start our own company? we will have some capital by then to invest in a start-up

Will your responses change once you read the above?

If u get a job then come here, stay for 3 yrs, get citizenship and return back, This is ideal condition. But if u don't get a decent job, then u will lose ur capital.
